A student in this rotation should expect extremely knowledgeable clinical instructors, various pediatric settings, amazing patients, rewarding experiences, and the knowledge necessary for entry-level work as a pediatric physical therapist.  Community-STARs offers a variety of experiences across all pediatric settings, including school-based, early intervention, and outpatient.  Kim and Kristin, the two clinical instructors, are beyond knowledgeable in the area of pediatrics with their PCS (two of the twenty-seven in the entire state of Virginia!) Not only do they provide a valuable learning experience, they are energetic, fun, positive, and encouraging.  This rotation requires someone who can think on their feet, is flexible with scheduling, implements feedback quickly, and has great rapport with children and their parents.  Any student with a sincere interest in the pediatric practice area would be lucky to complete this rotation.  I miss my kiddos every day!

Thank you, Kristin and Kim for your amazing spirit, unfaltering smile, tremendous energy and driving all the way out to Catholic for FUNfitness. I truly appreciate both of your expertise and the guidance and help you provided the students and me.  The event would not have run as smoothly without your help.
— Thank you again!"  Erin Wentzell, PT, DPT, PCS
Kristin has been and continues to be the link to our son Uriah’s physical advancement. Having a child with a rare condition often means that your support services are limited and that in itself can create an additional level of uncertainty in your already shuffled world. Kristin stepped in and helped our family create the life of possibilities that we felt Uriah could accomplish. She brought a wealth of knowledge in the right activities to complete and was a willing participant in learning additional ideas to help Uriah minimize limitations. She is a top-notch therapist, but more importantly, she is our family. We’ve had a lot of ups and downs, but she has always been there to lend an ear or simply to reassure. We miss her terribly, but are proud of the fact that more families will be able to benefit from her services. She does what she loves and it shows!

I highly recommend STARs to anyone wanting high quality physical therapy services. Not only are they experts in their field, but they deliver services in a caring, compassionate, and professional manner, earning the trust of children, parents, teachers and school administrators.
— Angie Neely, Director of Special Education

STARs has provided invaluable Physical Therapy services for the students in our division. Their expertise and skill provide not only professional and excellent service for students, but also staff development for teachers/instructional assistants, as well as parents.  STARs therapists bring a wealth of information and energy to everything they do.
— Susan Aylor, Supervisor of Special Services-

Starting out in a pediatric setting was very intimidating for me as a new graduate, but Kim really helped me to feel at ease with my experience.  Kim was a not only a great supervisor, she was also an excellent mentor.  If I was having difficulty coming up with interventions or trying to develop relationships with the staff, she was more than helpful!  I felt I could go to her with any problems I was having and she would do what she could to correct them.  Kim is an excellent therapist and a hard worker; she went above and beyond the supervisor role!

Dr. Lephart is all you could ask for in a therapist...caring, knowledgeable, dependable and the utmost professional.
Miss Kim is phenomenal! She is compassionate about her students and makes the task of physical therapy fun for all involved!
— Robin Brown, Teacher of Special Education

Kim’s extensive knowledge and competence, love of all children and welcome sense of humor create a relaxed learning environment for the families with whom she works. It is always a pleasure to work with Kim and to learn from her!
Kristin is an absolute pleasure. She is so energetic, enthusiastic, compassionate, and professional with all of the families with whom she works! She goes the extra mile at every session and truly treats each child and family individually and with respect. She gets just as excited to see a child progress as the family does! It is so evident that she loves being a physical therapist!
